YWIB Metro New York
Our mission at YWIB-Metro New York is to create STEM programs and events that encourage middle and high school girls to consider the life sciences as a career choice. The events ignite girls’ curiosity in the sciences while nurturing a business and entrepreneurial spirit.

Weill Cornell Medical College
Weill Cornell Medical College and the Metro New York Chapter of Young Women In Bio (YWIB-Metro New York) are pleased to announce the launch of an exciting mentoring program for girls who are high school seniors and have a serious interest in pursuing medicine as a career and strong academic credentials.
The High School-Medical School Mentorship Program is a collaboration between the Weill Cornell Medical College Women in Medicine (WIM) and the Young Women In Bio organizations. This program strives to provide academic and career guidance and encouragement to young women who have demonstrated interest and excellence in science from diverse high schools across New York City. Three high school students are coupled with three women medical school students as a mentoring group. The groups will meet both formally through organized program events and informally as questions or ideas arise. The small group structure allows for broader perspectives to be shared while also encouraging interaction between high school and medical school women from different backgrounds with similar interests. The primary goal is to encourage high school students to pursue their studies in science and medicine by providing support and answering questions using first-hand experiences.
The application period for this program opens in March. For more information about this program and future programming, please contact the Chair of YWIB-Metro New York at newyorkYWIB@womeninbio.org.
