YWIB-Metro New York: Women In Medicine – Guest Speaker and Tour at NYU BioLabs

On September 17, 2025, YWIB–Metro New York hosted a special Women in Medicine event at BioLabs at NYU Langone, bringing together a small group of high school students from New York and New Jersey for an inspiring afternoon of science and mentorship. The event started with a guided BioLabs tour led by Events Manager Clive Williams, where students got a behind-the-scenes look at the innovative biotech and life sciences companies housed there. Following the tour, the group had the privilege of meeting Dr. Mercy Anyanwu, an oncologist who shared her personal and professional journey in medicine. Her heartfelt story deeply resonated with the students, offering both motivation and insight into the realities of a career in healthcare. Designed to give students continued access to mentorship, exposure to STEM careers, and real-world learning experiences, this event was an engaging and memorable opportunity for future women leaders in medicine. The next Women in Medicine event is on the calendar for November 6 in New York City.
