The Young Women In Bio Seattle team had an incredible time tabling at the Mount Vernon Hope Coalition Health Fair! We engaged over 100 attendees with interactive science experiments designed to spark curiosity and introduce neuroscience and biology in fun, hands-on ways. Visitors explored whether sight affects taste by testing food-colored apple juice, discovered if they were super tasters through special taste strips, and learned about sensory neurons by comparing sharp versus smooth touches on their fingertips. The crowd, which included children, teens, and adults, was energized and enthusiastic. We distributed STEM-themed stickers and YWIB flyers, encouraging high school students to join as ambassadors and participate in science outreach.
Thank you to the Mount Vernon Hope Coalition for hosting this meaningful community event and our YWIB-Seattle leaders, Shivani Jayaprakasam and Amelia Johnson! We loved connecting with curious minds and inspiring future scientists!
