We are thrilled to introduce Shivani Jayaprakasam as WIB-Seattle's new Vice Chair of Young Women In Bio!
Shivani is an accomplished undergraduate student at the University of Washington, pursuing a dual degree in neuroscience and public/global health. A committed advocate for diversity in STEM, Shivani has been a dedicated WIB member since 2020, leading impactful STEM training programs for young girls as a high school ambassador and coordinating educational initiatives as our previous YWIB communications vice chair. Her leadership extends beyond WIB. She has excelled as a student researcher at UW Medicine’s Neonatal Neuroscience Lab and a nursing assistant at Lahai Health, contributing significantly to research advancements and healthcare access for underserved populations. With Shivani’s energy and vision, YWIB is poised for continued growth and success. She will transition to the Chair role in June 2025, and we are confident her leadership will further our mission to empower the next generation of women in STEM. We couldn’t be more excited to have her join WIB-Seattle, and we can’t wait to see what she accomplishes!
