YWIB-Philadelphia Metro: Teen Research Internship Program Kit Event at the Fox Chase Cancer Center

On May 11, 2024, the Teen Research Internship Program (TRIP) collaborated with Young Women In Bio Philadelphia Metro to host the TRIP Kit Event at the Fox Chase Cancer Center.  The event focused on examining the potential health and activity benefits of fenugreek using a fruit fly injury model.


Event Highlights:

  • Participant Engagement: Twenty-four enthusiastic participants eagerly delved into the world of scientific inquiry during the event.
  • Hands-on Experimentation: Each participant had the opportunity to work with practice flies before conducting experiments with an experimental vial.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Participants collected, graphed, and compared their data, enhancing their understanding of experimental methodology and data interpretation.
  • Collaborative Learning: Data from individual experiments were pooled, fostering a sense of camaraderie and shared learning, where participants shared insights and observations.


The TRIP Kit Event at Fox Chase Cancer Center provided an exciting platform for young researchers to explore scientific concepts, refine their laboratory skills, and connect with peers who share their passion for STEM.
