WIB-Metro New York: Summer Picnic in Central Park

On July 22, WIB-Metro New York held our Annual Summer Member Appreciation Picnic in Central Park, bringing together 30 chapter members for a relaxing afternoon of conversation, connection, and community. After a few days of watching the weather forecast, everything came together perfectly, and we gathered on blankets under a beautiful tree near Turtle Pond to enjoy sandwiches, cookies, and lemonade from Perfect Picnic.

The afternoon was intentionally informal, giving longtime and new members plenty of time to get to know one another, catch up, and share ideas. We introduced new members to the chapter, talked about upcoming opportunities to get involved, and encouraged anyone interested to consider joining the Steering Committee. Without a formal agenda, conversations flowed naturally and covered everything from career experiences to the growing impact of AI in journalism and business writing, and how it can be used to make our work more efficient without replacing the human touch.

Everyone enjoyed the setting, food, and chance to spend time together outside the office. It was exciting to welcome several new members, and we look forward to seeing them become part of our chapter community.
