Women In Bio Capital Region and EmpowerBio teamed up to host an inspiring Career Panel at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) in honor of Women’s History Month! The event kicked off with a warm welcome from Mindy Lehman of TEDCO, who shared valuable insights on grants and VC funding to help bring research from the lab to the market. Our moderator, Amrita Madabushi, then led a discussion featuring three incredible women in biotech: Theresa Cassino (Director of Project Management, Dynavax Technologies), Tara J. Taylor (Program Director at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health), and Suruchi Shrestha (Scientist III at Thermo Fisher Scientific). The panelists shared their journeys, highlighting the power of authenticity, the importance of taking bold steps, and the art of pivoting to new opportunities. Attendees shared that the event provided invaluable opportunities for networking and career growth. It was a night of learning, networking, and celebrating the fantastic women shaping the future of science and biotech.
