WIB-Capital Region: Biomixer in DC

WIB-Capital Region hosted its first-ever Biomixer in Washington, DC, and what a night it was! Held at the Drug Information Association (DIA) offices, the event brought together professionals from biotech, life sciences, government, and academia for an evening of meaningful connections — all against the stunning backdrop of the DC rooftop skyline.

The night was made even more special by the inspiring presence of leaders from across DC's public sector. Thank you to Cara Drehoff - DC Department of Health, Toi Francis - DC Mayor's Office of Women's Policy and Initiatives, Nina McGarvey-Robinson, MSOL - DC Commission for Women, Gaby Vincent - DC Mayor's Office of Community Affairs, and Natalee S. Snider - DC Mayor's Office on Caribbean Community Affairs for sharing your powerful messages and support. A heartfelt thank you to Teri Ngo - Co-Chair of WIB-Capital Region, and Nadia Abdallah - Co-Vice Chair of WIB-Capital Region's Programs Committee, for spearheading this milestone event, and to our gracious hosts at DIA — Katie T., Tamie Elliott, and Farah Faraj — for being such fantastic partners in making the evening a success. We also extend a warm shout-out to our dedicated WIB leaders — Stephanie M. Davis, Somy Hooshmand, Nao Gamo, and Susree Modepalli — for arriving early and going above and beyond to make the event run smoothly.

This evening was full of firsts: WIB-Capital Region's first DC event in a long time, our first collaboration with DIA, and our first gathering with so many DC community leaders. But perhaps the most memorable first of all? Networking on a rooftop with the DC skyline as our backdrop. We certainly checked a lot of boxes — and we can't wait to do it again!
