WIB-Capital Region: Spring Coffee Chats, April 2024

In the spring of 2024, volunteer leaders of the Women In Bio Capital Region chapter organized a series of informal “Coffee Chat” meetups throughout the large region for in-person networking of both current members and community members. The events were well-attended across the region, with separate events in Silver Spring, Gaithersburg, Frederick, MD, and Washington, DC. In the cozy atmosphere of the coffee shops, volunteer leaders and attendees discussed both their personal and professional stories. Non-members also had the chance to ask questions about the organization and learn more about membership and opportunities to participate in the local chapter. “Our Coffee Chat was a warm, welcoming, and lively event with both existing and prospective WIB members,” said Nao Gamo, Chair of the Capital Region EWIB committee. “We discussed working toward others’ expectations/standards vs. our own values, how we can lead while being true to ourselves, and shared book recommendations for personal and professional development.” Many attendees shared their contact information so they could stay connected after the chat.
