WIB-Capital Region: Mastering Risk Resilience – Navigating the Health Care Product Landscape

On Friday, April 12, 2024, WIB-Capital Region hosted a discussion called Mastering Risk Resilience: Navigating the Healthcare Product from Manufacturing to the Patient at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. The event began with a continental breakfast and networking session. Karen Underwood provided an introduction to Women In Bio Capital Region, highlighting upcoming events. She acknowledged the collaboration of Dr. James Polli from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy and BioBuzz, particularly Cat Thoreson, for their invaluable support in promoting and organizing the event. Despite the pouring rain outside, our panelists Stephanie Brandford, Julie Doherty, Chitra Edwin, and Jill Kessler, as well as our esteemed moderator Casey Jackson, preserved the day.

Dr. Polli delivered an update on the Masters of Regulatory Science Program and the Center for Research on Complex Generics at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. Casey Jackson promptly transitioned into the panel discussion, addressing risk mitigation strategies. The discussion began by identifying and assessing potential risks throughout the lifecycle, covering aspects from engineering and clinical assessment to product development. Implementing risk control and monitoring strategies, and the importance of continuously evaluating and improving risk management practices were also covered.

The talk concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session and networking. It was an engaging and informative talk, made possible by the dedication of our panelists. Many thanks to our photographer, Albert Chrisp, and our timekeeper, Amelia Barkman, for their invaluable contributions. Special appreciation is extended to Binny Bhandary, Wendy Yap, and all volunteers and registrants who collaborated to make this event a success.
