YWIB-Philadelphia Metro, in collaboration with Ciencia con Acento and led by Ángela Fernández Iglesias, created a month-long digital campaign highlighting 14 Spanish-speaking women who have made remarkable contributions to STEM. Throughout the month, bilingual posts were published on LinkedIn, and each was researched and written by Ciencia con Acento executive team members. The spotlights offered unique lessons in resilience, mentorship, and scientific excellence, from molecular biology and neuroscience to genomics and marine conservation. Collectively, they highlighted how representation, mentorship, and visibility empower more women from underrepresented backgrounds to lead in science. The purpose was to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by showcasing Hispanic women's leadership, innovation, and impact in STEM — increasing representation, awareness, and inspiration for younger generations of women pursuing scientific careers. The campaign concluded with broad community engagement and recognition from WIB members, Hispanic scientists, and local STEM organizations in Philadelphia. The spotlights were also shared with the John Moffet School and were shared on their social media. Ciencia con Acento and YWIB-Philadelphia Metro plan to expand this collaboration annually with in-person events featuring local Hispanic scientists in the Philadelphia area.
