Women In Bio Metro New York wrapped up 2025 with a festive and joyful Annual Holiday Party on December 3 at 325 Hudson in New York City, bringing together about 50 members and guests to celebrate one another and the continued success of our chapter. It was a relaxed, celebratory evening—complete with holiday ornament decorating—focused on connection rather than formal programming. Our Chapter Chair, Joanna Kaniewska, welcomed everyone and thanked the Steering Committee and members for their hard work throughout the year. As we reflected on 2025, there was so much to be proud of, including our first collaborative event with Women.NYC for a Books, Bagels & Bio conversation with Dr. Joan Fallon of Curemark, a compelling panel on Investing in Women’s Health, and a highly successful first-time partnership with the University of Rochester’s Business School Executive MBA program featuring Executive Coach Mary Connelly’s talk, Owning the Room.
Our Young Women In Bio program, led by dynamic Co-Chairs Cavan Farley and Dawn Fallon, reached hundreds of girls interested in STEM. At the same time, EWIB and MAPS continued to generate strong engagement and energy. Communications Committee Co-Chair, Wendy Diller, also encouraged attendees to connect with Dr. Marie Anne O’Donnell of NYCures.org, an advocacy group urging Governor Kathy Hochul to include $500 million in the 2026–27 state budget for a new Empire Biomedical Research Institute. The evening would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors, Safety Partners and Trinity Consultants, Elemental Machines, and 325 Hudson, which donated the space. Special thanks also go to Nancie Steinberg for capturing fantastic photos and co-organizing the event with Hélène Boigard and Madeleine Tavcar.
