YWIB-San Francisco Bay Area: Stitching Success – Hands-On Suturing Workshop

March 23, 2026

On March 23, 2026, YWIB-San Francisco Bay Area hosted an evening workshop for 16 middle and high school students interested in exploring careers in medicine and healthcare, featuring an introduction to suturing. Dr. Barbara Troupin led the workshop, guiding students through the fundamentals, including skin structure and wound care. Each participant worked with their own suturing kit to practice basic techniques. The evening also provided time for networking over pizza, during which the students discussed future educational paths and careers in healthcare. Thank you to our hosts at Phase 3, the Genesis Conference Center in Brisbane, for providing the event space for this valuable introduction to medical skills and careers, helping to spark curiosity and confidence in the next generation of Women In Bio and healthcare
