Over 100 women from across Southern California attended the May 6 Women In Bio MAPS (Mentorship, Advisors, Peers, and Sponsorship) Launch event. Meeting both in-person and virtually, WIB members came together to enjoy a light meal, networking, and camaraderie. Attendees were divided into seven groups where they began to build community and set plans to foster personal and career growth over the following six months, from May to October/November. This year, four in-person groups will meet in San Diego, one in-person group will meet in Orange County, and two virtual groups will support the Los Angeles area. Every group is comprised of about 15 women, each with two or more peer group leaders to facilitate and maintain continuity. Members span career stages from students to those with over 20 years of experience and roles that include statistical programming, research, marketing, business development, medicinal chemistry, associate professor, and much more.
