Principal Scientist in Medicinal Chemistry at DeepCure
As part of our ongoing effort to highlight members making a professional impact in the life sciences and as women, WIB-Los Angeles is proud to showcase Elvira Haimov, PhD. Elvira is an active volunteer with WIB-Los Angeles, serving on the Programs Committee, which plays a critical role in planning and executing meaningful events for the community. The Programs Committee gathers topics and ideas from membership and sponsors, ensuring that events resonate with the life sciences community.
Elvira is a Principal Scientist in Medicinal Chemistry at DeepCure, where she applies her expertise to craft new molecules with potential biological effects. Working at the forefront of AI-driven technology, Elvira finds the thrill of discovery and innovation in her role. “What excites me most is the opportunity to push the boundaries of what’s possible while contributing to real-world solutions in patient care,” she shares.
Her journey in science began with a simple curiosity to understand “why” and has grown into a career fueled by a passion for solving complex challenges. As a woman in the field, Elvira is motivated by the opportunity to challenge the status quo and bring diverse perspectives that foster creativity and innovation. “Women’s voices are vital in creating environments where innovation thrives,” she shares.
Elvira’s involvement with Women In Bio has been instrumental in her professional growth, helping her build a strong network and enhance her leadership skills. Through her work with the Programs Committee, she recently helped organize LA Venture Voices, an event on October 24, 2024, that brought together women founders and VCs to discuss the unique challenges and successes in entrepreneurship and venture capital. “It’s a powerful platform to foster conversations that drive change,” she notes.
Her advice for those looking to get involved with WIB is simple: “Don’t miss an opportunity. Volunteering with WIB is more than just networking—it’s a chance to develop leadership skills, make meaningful connections, and contribute to shaping the future of women in life sciences.” Elvira is a dedicated leader, innovator, and advocate for the life sciences community, both in her scientific work and her contributions to Women In Bio.
