WIB-Greater Boston: Opportunities and Evolution of Agentic AI

May 15, 2026

On May 15, WIB-Greater Boston presented a webinar on agentic AI — the next evolution of artificial intelligence systems that can autonomously plan, make decisions, and take action to achieve defined goals — and what this technology could mean for the future of life sciences. The experts on the panel explored how agentic AI goes beyond today’s prompt-driven tools by enabling systems to use planning, memory, tool use, and feedback loops with greater autonomy. They shared exciting real-world examples of how these technologies are being applied across business operations, research, and clinical development, and how they could help organizations work faster and more efficiently. Olivia Viessmann also gave a live demo of Aevom, showcasing a practical use case of AI in drug discovery and giving attendees a firsthand look at how these tools are already being used in the field. At the same time, the conversation highlighted the importance of balancing innovation with thoughtful governance, risk management, trust, and human oversight as AI continues to evolve. It was a thought-provoking session that left attendees with plenty of ideas — and questions — about where AI is headed next.
