On April 22, 2026, WIB-Connecticut celebrated its 5th Anniversary at the New Haven Lawn Club, bringing together 55+ members of Connecticut’s life sciences community for an evening of connection, reflection, and celebration. The room was filled with both familiar faces and many new ones — a reminder of how much this chapter has grown since its founding.
One moment that particularly resonated was reflecting on the early vision for WIB-Connecticut — creating a strong Connecticut identity and not simply being “an appendage of NYC,” as Erika Smith aptly put it. Between the charcuterie spread, appetizers, raffle prizes, and most importantly, great conversations, the evening highlighted what makes WIB-Connecticut special: a collaborative and supportive community of women and allies across biotech, healthcare, and life sciences.
A huge thank you to our chapter leaders, Krystyn Mayer and Candy Hwang, as well as Kate Krylova and the many volunteers who keep this chapter humming behind the scenes. We’re excited for what’s ahead in 2026 — from social networking events and mentorship programs to panel discussions and leadership programming that continue to strengthen Connecticut’s growing life sciences ecosystem.
