On Saturday, April 6, 2024, the Research Triangle Park (RTP) chapter of Young Women In Bio (YWIB) supported the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) as they held the Design & Pitch Challenges in STEM Competition at the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation in Raleigh, NC. The event aimed to empower students to showcase their innovative STEM solutions through a structured pitch competition. Each team had five minutes to present their pitch after which the judges began scoring. Judges were not permitted to ask questions during the presentations. Among the esteemed judges was WIB-RTP's Wanda Proctor, Co-Chair of the chapter's YWIB Committee and Associate Director of Quality Assurance at IQVIA. Her presence added valuable industry insight to the judging panel. The event concluded with a recognition ceremony where superlative certificates were handed out, celebrating the hard work and creativity of the participants.
