YWIB-Connecticut at New Haven Science Fair

May 21, 2024

In May, members of Young Women In Bio Connecticut participated as judges in the New Haven Public School Science Fair, where over 201 projects from students in grades 1–12 were submitted. Each judge evaluated 7–10 high school projects, which included a student interview. In partnership with Yale Ventures, WIB sponsored three $100 awards. The event provided a wonderful opportunity for judges and students to engage in meaningful discussions about the projects. The students’ enthusiasm was contagious, and it was inspiring to see their excitement and passion as they shared their work.

The following awards were presented:

Women In Bio Award For Most Patentable Project
Carnivorous Critique, an 8th-grade project from the Betsy Ross Arts Magnet School,

Women In Bio Award For Oustanding Project In Environmental Science Or Sustainability
Keep 'Em Clean, an 8th-grade project from Nathan Hale

Women In Bio Award For Outstanding Project In Healthcare Or Medicine
Investigating the Relationship Between the Size of Blood Clots, Blood Flow Rate, and Anticoagulants in the Cardiovascular System for the Implementation in Ischemic Stroke Patients, an 11th-grade project from the Engineering and Science University Magnet School
