On May 6, about 70 attendees gathered at CBRE for WIB-Chicago’s fireside chat, featuring Alison Fragale, author of Likeable Badass: How Women Get the Success They Deserve, and moderator Michelle Hoffman. The evening centered around an engaging and eye-opening conversation about building “status” — the idea that reputation and influence come from being both highly competent and genuinely warm. Alison and Michelle explored how small, consistent actions can help build credibility and power, while also encouraging attendees to be useful to others, advocate for their own accomplishments, and embrace mentorship at every stage of their careers.
One of the biggest takeaways from the discussion was that everyone, even the most junior person in the room, has something valuable to contribute and should not be afraid to speak to their successes. Attendees especially appreciated the opportunity to ask thoughtful questions during the Q&A, creating a highly interactive and personal experience. At the end of the event, attendees received a free copy of Alison’s book, making the evening both inspiring and memorable.
