WIB-Chicago brought together scientists, artists, and enthusiasts to spark dialogue, foster creativity, and explore the intersection of neuroscience and art. About 50-60 attendees and speakers networked over food and drinks at TeamWorking by TechNexus before taking their seats for the event. Chapter Co-Chairs Ashley and Ellita started by introducing the sponsors, JPMorgan Chase and Husch Blackwell, with Kris Kappel, a partner at Husch Blackwell, delivering the opening remarks.
The highlight of the evening was an inspiring keynote address by Dr. Hande Ozdinler, who shared her journey of turning personal tragedy into artistic expression. After losing her brother at a young age, Dr. Ozdinler began creating art to honor his memory. Over time, this pursuit grew into a passion that complemented her dedication to science. The venue, beautifully adorned with artwork by Dr. Ozdinler (available for purchase), provided an elegant backdrop for the evening. Her keynote was followed by a speech by Dr. Claire Sexton from the Alzheimer's Association.
