On September 21, WIB-Chicago hosted the September Startup Challenge. The evening kicked off with a warm welcome as guests began arriving around 5:30 p.m. The pitch competition commenced at 6:00 p.m., featuring a lineup of innovative companies. The event was graced by opening remarks from the WIB-Chicago Committee Chairs and insightful words from our valued sponsors. The stage was then taken by our adept moderator, Heather Kissling, who introduced a series of compelling pitches.
First up was Ashima, representing Varchas Biotechnology, followed by Katherine Rhodes, showcasing her venture, Cipher. The audience was captivated by Izzy Mokotoff presenting Steadyscrib and Christine Rohan presenting Vasowatch. Dr. Ruchi Gupta concluded the pitches with her company, Yoobee. Following the riveting presentations, judges went into deliberation while attendees cast their votes using a convenient QR code system. In the end, both the judges and the audience were in unanimous agreement, declaring Steadyscrib the victor.
Congratulations to Izzy Mokotoff, Co-founder and CEO, and Alexis Chan, Co-founder and Chief Engineer of Steadyscrib, for their well-deserved win at our 9th Annual Start-Up Challenge! Steadyscrib's pioneering work in enhancing accessibility and independence for those living with Parkinson's is commendable. Their innovative writing utensil is set to revolutionize the way individuals express themselves, providing newfound confidence and ease. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all participating companies, our proficient moderator, esteemed judges, and invaluable sponsors who played a pivotal role in making this event a resounding success.
