On April 2, 2024, WIB-Chicago hosted a recruitment and networking-focused event to match 3.8 Cohort graduates with growing start-ups. The 3.8 Program aims to fill the gender gap of women who hold board seats by preparing women for the boardroom. Attendees arrived, networked, and ate for the first 45 minutes of the event. Ashely Nagle began the pitch event by thanking the 3.8 Program founders and sponsors Amgen and Portal Innovations. Holly and Adrienne talked about the founding of 3.8 and Phase Two, highlighting the 41 graduates over four years. Dimitra Georganopoulou then introduced each pitch and gave each start-up one minute to present.
The companies presenting pitches were Yobee Care, Vaso-Watch, Stemloop, SNC Therapeutics, Rheaos, PreDx, Partum Health, iTrials, Ikaika Therapeutics, Healee, Grove BioPharma, Evoq Therapeutics, Dimension inx, CWS, and 3^2 Therapeutics. Each pitch was unique and focused on a different area of biotech/pharma or healthcare and highlighted the advisory and investment help needed. Many start-ups were looking for advisors with expertise in their specific scientific field, market strategy, clinical development, regulatory experience, and healthcare. Afterward, the floor was opened for networking, and the chapter co-chairs were each given a lovely tea set.
