On May 4, about 40 attendees gathered at BioLabs Pegasus Park for a fireside chat featuring Kristen Doyle, the CEO of the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT), moderated by Gabrielle Wong. Guests enjoyed light snacks and drinks before Gabrielle opened the evening with a brief introduction and a guided conversation with Kristen. During the discussion, Kristen shared insights from her leadership journey, her vision for advancing Texas’s growing life sciences ecosystem, and the personal experiences that shaped her commitment to patient-centered impact.
One of the most inspiring moments was hearing Kristen speak candidly about her personal cancer journey and how it has influenced her outlook on CPRIT and supporting innovative cancer research. Attendees also connected strongly with Kristen’s personable and humble approach, as well as her passion for helping small biotech startups and advancing new cancer research initiatives. A key takeaway from the event was the importance of remaining open to unexpected career opportunities and recognizing that the Dallas life sciences and biotech industry is still in its early stages, with significant growth and advancement still ahead.
Following the fireside chat, attendees stayed to network and continue conversations with Kristen, asking additional questions and building new connections within the community. The event was a wonderful way to continue building momentum for the new WIB–North Texas chapter and strengthen connections across the region’s growing life sciences community.
