WIB-Greater Boston: Biotech Workforce Development – Recruit, Revitalize, & Retain Top Talent

WIB-Greater Boston hosted this event at ElevateBio to connect biotech professionals with industry leaders and resources and address talent needs in biotech. There is huge potential and demand for cultivating talent in many fields within biotech. The event highlighted the importance of keeping up with new technologies and provided insights on developing and retaining biotech talent.

Attendees began by networking and participating in site tours showcasing ElevateBio’s multi-modality BaseCamp^® facility. Afterward, moderator Becky Zoccola of ElevateBio started the conversation with panelists Vaishali Shukla of Kite Pharma, Katie Jorgensen of ElevateBio, Sue Marrichi of Ultragenyx, and Kim Nguyen of Affini-T. Each panelist discussed their background and thoughts on developing and retaining talents in biotech.

The event highlighted the importance of having a flexible career path for people from diverse backgrounds and building a sustainable company culture, which includes creating a positive work environment that promotes employee well-being, growth, and retention. The panelists gave much evidence that there’s no one-size-fits-all career solution, and companies need to invest in developing career paths and retaining employees. Everyone should stay updated with novel technologies to get therapeutics to the patients in need as fast as possible. After the conversations wrapped and the audience Q&A concluded, many attendees stayed for additional networking.
