WIB-Chicago: Boardroom, Bench, & Breakthroughs – Mujeres Visionarias Leading Across Life Sciences

On October 8, 2025, we gathered at the CBRE offices for a special event celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. The evening began with friendly networking as guests chatted over tacos from Flacos Tacos and got to know one another. After about half an hour, Chapter Co-Chair Dorys Lopez welcomed everyone and introduced the panel, which Gabbi Martinez beautifully moderated. For the next hour, our panelists shared real and relatable stories about their careers in science and healthcare—touching on everything from career growth to finding balance between work and family. They talked about how priorities shift throughout life, how diversity and inclusion must stay at the heart of everything we do, and how creating a career map can help give direction and purpose. One great piece of advice was to look for gaps in your field—those are opportunities to stand out and make an impact. The room was full of energy and inspiration as attendees listened to these women share how they built meaningful careers while staying true to their values, their families, and their communities.
