WIB-Capital Region Late Spring Coffee Chats, May/June 2024

In May and June of 2024, volunteer leaders of the Women In Bio Capital Region chapter organized a series of informal “Coffee Chat” meetups throughout the region for in-person networking of both current members and community members. The events were well-attended across the region with separate events in:

• Rockville, MD
• Silver Spring, MD
• Vienna, VA
• Rockville Town Square, MD

While enjoying their cups of coffee, volunteer leaders and attendees had lively discussions, from sharing their favorite books to discussing their career paths. “We discussed job opportunities in different areas. There was a student looking for a career path combining finance and neuroscience. We had a few people between jobs and a couple of consults who spoke about what that is like. We had one person from Merck Germany who spoke about a potential opportunity in her group,” said Ilana Goldberg, Programs Committee Chair of Women In Bio Capital Region, “It turned out to be a good discussion.”

Non-members also had the chance to ask questions about the organization and learn more about membership and opportunities to participate in the local chapter. Many attendees left coffee chats and stayed connected by sharing their contact information. Thanks to all the Capital Region chapter volunteers and attendees for making this series successful!
