Samantha Lewandowski, Human Resources & Talent Consultant at EngageCX
Samantha is an experienced startup human resources and talent professional, with her most recent roles being the Director of Human Resources at TwinStrand Biosciences in Seattle and the Human Resources & Talent Manager at Evozyne in Chicago. She has always worn many "hats" in the HR world, but some of her favorite projects have included the launch of a performance management program and the development of an intensive internship recruitment strategy and program. Samantha has proven experience working across levels and departments, providing counsel to executives and other senior leaders, while also maintaining an approachable presence for the general employee population. She loves creative problem-solving and fostering work environments where employees want to remain employed. Samantha holds a master's in human resources and employment relations and a bachelor's in psychology from Loyola University Chicago.
Elena Sinclair, Principal Consultant at FlexPoint Bio
Elena is a seasoned life sciences expert with over 20 years of experience across academic research, biotech innovation, and clinical trial leadership. Her multidisciplinary background includes advanced degrees in integrative biology, neuroscience, business administration, and AI-driven decision-making. She has led IND-enabling studies, directed academic laboratories, and established pivotal programs, including oncology biorepositories and biomarker departments for cell and gene therapy trials. As the founder and CEO of FlexPoint Bio, Elena leads a consulting firm focused on clinical trial optimisation, biomarker strategy, logistics, and clinical outsourcing. Elena has also contributed to key initiatives with the Project Management Institute in Dallas, emphasizing strategic planning and operational excellence.
Duru Tasman, Bioengineering PhD Student at the University of Washington, Moderator
Duru is a third-year Bioengineering PhD student at the University of Washington, Seattle. She works in the Woodrow lab under the mentorship of Dr. Kim Woodrow, where she utilizes various chemical drug delivery systems to develop long-acting formulations for HIV therapeutic administration. She is interested in polymerization techniques and their modifications, and is excited about their potential applications in women’s health. She aims for her research to contribute to the development of future multi-purpose preventive technologies for contraception and protection.
Dorian Varga, Director of Corporate Relations at the University of Washington
As the Director of Corporate Relations, Dorian promotes various engagement opportunities between the University of Washington and corporate entities. Acting as a facilitator, guide, and liaison, she helps foster and maintain strong connections between corporate partners and the UW’s schools, colleges, and campuses. Dorian is a member of the University-Industry Demonstration Partnership (UIDP), an organization that brings together representatives from academia and industry to address shared challenges in university-industry relations and to establish best practices in the field. Dorian has more than 20 years of experience at the UW, where she has held various positions within the Department of Bioengineering, the School of Law, and the School of Public Health. Most recently, she collaborated with corporate partners and faculty in the College of Engineering to develop impactful student projects that address real-world issues. Dorian holds a BA in English and drama and an MIT from the University of Washington.
