Speaker Bios
Meghan Hindman, Therapeutic Area Lead for Product Public Relations at Genentech
Meghan serves as a Therapeutic Area Lead for Product Public Relations at Genentech, where she leads communications for the Ophthalmology, Immunology, and late-stage pipeline portfolios, including Cardiovascular, Renal, Metabolic (CVRM), and Neurology. A biopharma communications veteran with more than two decades of experience—including the majority of her career at Pfizer—she specializes in translating complex science into meaningful stories and using innovative strategies to reach key audiences. Meghan is driven by the opportunity to collaborate with talented colleagues toward the shared mission of delivering transformative healthcare solutions to patients.
Aparna Shetty, Lead of Scientific Communications for Rare Diseases at Astellas Pharma
Aparna is a scientist at heart with a PhD in neuroscience from the University of Hamburg, Germany. She continued her research on Alzheimer’s disease at the University of Zurich, Switzerland, and on multiple sclerosis at the University of California, San Francisco. After recognizing that data actually does not speak for itself and needs to be communicated the right way to the right audience, she pivoted to understanding the world of communications. After working at medical communication agencies and biotech companies for a few years, she is currently the lead of scientific communications for rare diseases (gene and cell therapies) at Astellas Pharma. She is responsible for aligned, consistent, and early scientific messaging that includes publications, medical information, and other scientific content, including internal training. Outside of her work, she has discovered the world of gardening with native Californian plants and spends her time hiking and exploring the East Bay with her family.
Gwendolyn Wu, Senior Reporter at BioPharma Dive
Gwendolyn is a senior reporter at BioPharma Dive covering biotech startups and venture capital. Previously, she covered local news for the San Francisco Chronicle and COVID-19/health care for the Houston Chronicle. Outside the newsroom, Gwendolyn teaches at the California Scholastic Press Association summer workshop for high school journalists and has led student and early-career programs for the Asian American Journalists Association.
Holly Zoog, Vice President, Scientific Information and Publications at Ultragenyx, Moderator
Holly is Vice President, Scientific Information and Publications, at Ultragenyx, a rare-disease biopharmaceutical company, where she leads regulatory medical writing, scientific publications, clinical-trial transparency, and the health sciences library. Prior to Ultragenyx, Holly was at Amgen in positions of increasing responsibility within Medical Affairs with a focus on publications. She began her communications career as a senior science editor at Scholastic, writing and editing for young audiences. She has a PhD in nutritional biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
