YWIB-Metro New York: Better Together – The Harmony of Clinical Care and Hospital Operations
Have you ever wondered what it takes to keep a major hospital running — behind the scenes, beyond the bedside? This program pulls back the curtain on the business of healthcare, and shows how clinical expertise and operational leadership work hand in hand to deliver exceptional patient care.
Join YWIB Metro New York for a virtual session featuring Sarah Monchar, a healthcare leader at Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC), one of New Jersey's top-ranked hospitals. Sarah began her career at the bedside as a Physician Assistant in trauma and critical care, and today she oversees major hospital operations, including lab services, surgical and critical care, and trauma. In this program, Sarah will:
Whether you're drawn to medicine, business, science, or leadership, this program will show you that there is a role for everyone in healthcare. Sarah Monchar, MS, PA-C, MBA, Operations Manager, Trauma Critical Care Service at HUMC
Sarah is a healthcare leader at Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC), one of New Jersey's top hospitals. She started her career as a Physician Assistant caring for patients in trauma and critical care — and today she helps run major parts of the hospital, including the lab services, surgical and critical care, and trauma operations. Sarah's job sits right where medicine meets management. She's seen firsthand that hospitals don't run on doctors and nurses alone — it takes a huge team of people, from lab scientists to administrators to support staff, all working together. She's helped launch programs that improve patient care, supported hospital staff through tough moments (including COVID-19), and earned HUMC top-level trauma certifications. She holds an MBA from Monmouth University and a master's in physician assistant studies from UMDNJ, and also teaches future healthcare providers at the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine. Sarah is passionate about showing students that there's a place for everyone in healthcare — and that great hospitals happen when clinical care and smart operations work hand in hand.
