Priya Nowrangi, Head of Global Investigations at UCB
Priya is a seasoned legal and investigations professional who joined UCB as the Head of Global Investigations in 2021, bringing deep experience across government, consulting, and private practice. She earned her education at George Washington University and Drexel University School of Law. Earlier in her career, she served as a Law Clerk at the U.S. Department of Justice and as an Attorney at Cohen Milstein, where she developed deep expertise in high‑stakes legal analysis and investigations. She later held senior leadership roles at Deloitte, including Senior Manager, advising organizations on complex, sensitive matters requiring discretion, strategic insight, and operational excellence. Born in Washington, DC, Priya is recognized for her analytical rigor, intellectual curiosity, and pragmatic leadership style. Outside of her professional work, she supports dog rescue efforts, is an avid reader, and maintains a long‑standing interest in investigative history, including art theft.
Martina Rozumberkova, Principal, Compliance, Forensics and Intelligence at Control Risks, Moderator
Martina is a Principal in Control Risks’ Compliance, Forensics and Intelligence practice, where she leads complex compliance initiatives and forensic investigations for life sciences clients across numerous regions. With more than two decades of experience, she advises global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies on fraud risk, internal controls, corporate investigations, and the design and implementation of enterprise-wide compliance programs. She has partnered closely with a major life sciences client to evaluate internal controls, strengthen investigation methodologies, and conduct risk assessments across commercial operations in the United States, Canada, and Argentina. Her work includes developing remediation strategies and guiding cross-functional teams—spanning internal audit, legal, HR, corporate security, R&D, and commercial functions—through the rollout and monitoring of global compliance frameworks covering anti-fraud controls, the FCPA, the U.K. Bribery Act, data security, labor laws, and other regulatory requirements. Before joining Control Risks, Martina led the Commercial Monitoring team at Sanofi Genzyme, where she oversaw internal testing programs, corporate investigations, and compliance obligations under the company’s Corporate Integrity Agreement with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. She also built compliance programs to support new product launches. Her background includes extensive FCPA investigations, monitorships, and M&A compliance reviews across Latin America, Russia, and Eastern Europe, as well as roles in Big Four consulting and the biotechnology sector.
Michelle Shapiro, Partner at ArentFox Schiff
For over 25 years, Michelle has devoted her practice to white-collar criminal defense, representing companies and executives through all phases of government investigations, criminal prosecutions, civil enforcement actions, regulatory proceedings, and related matters. Michelle has extensive experience in the health care and life sciences industries, where she has counseled public and private pharmaceutical companies, medical device manufacturers, home healthcare and hospice companies, providers, CEOs, board members, and others. Among her proudest achievements are non-public resolutions without charges, media coverage, or significant business disruption for her clients. A key component of Michelle’s practice is counseling global companies on how to prevent and detect violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), Anti-Kickback Statute, and other bribery laws. She helps organizations design, enhance, and implement customized compliance programs to address their particular risk profiles, assists with third-party screenings, conducts pre-acquisition anti-corruption due diligence, and advises on remediation efforts and other ongoing compliance efforts. She has overseen and conducted internal investigations in more than 20 countries concerning potential misconduct by officers, directors, employees, suppliers, consultants, and other business partners. Michelle maintains offices in both the Boston and New York offices of ArentFox Schiff LLP. She serves as Secretary and Global Vice Chair of the Women’s White Collar Defense Association, a 5,000-member international association devoted to promoting equal opportunity in the field of white collar defense, and is a member of the Steering Committee of the White-Collar Crime Section of the Boston Bar Association. Among other accolades, Michelle has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America for Criminal Defense, White Collar since 2023. Michelle received her JD from Columbia Law School and her undergraduate degree with honors from Washington University in St. Louis.
