This month's topic will be a conversation on women's reproductive health, fertility, challenges in IVF, and policies and funding that are allowing innovative therapies to finally reach the market. Speaker Bios
Kellie Breen Church, Associate Professor of Ob/Gyn & Reproductive Sciences at UC San Diego
Kellie is an Associate Professor at UC San Diego. She is a mentor, educator, and head of a collaborative NIH-funded research program specializing in targeted discovery of the molecular mechanisms underlying disrupted endocrine function in pre-clinical disease models. The Breen Church Laboratory has published over 40 peer-reviewed articles investigating how the brain perceives stress cues and how stress signals contribute to disrupted endocrine physiology in females. When not in the lab, Kellie can be found serving on advisory boards (NIH, International Neuroendocrine Federation), editorial boards (Endocrinology & Biology of Reproduction), or exploring the gorgeous trails across San Diego.
Tracy Harrison, MD, MAS, Assistant Clinical Professor of Ob/Gyn & Reproductive Sciences at UC San Diego
Tracy Harrison received her undergraduate education from Stanford University and earned her MD from Duke University School of Medicine. She completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California, Los Angeles, and a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Harrison is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at the University of California, San Diego. She is double board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility and practices medicine at Kaiser Permanente-Southern California. In addition to her clinical activities, Dr. Harrison is an active researcher and has published on the topics of PCOS, fibroid care, assisted reproductive technology, oncofertility, contraception, and transgender medicine. Her research has been funded by NIH, Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and American Society of Reproductive Medicine. Providing reproductive care, conducting research, and educating the next generation of reproductive endocrinologists all contribute to her ultimate goal of helping patients achieve their fertility goals. Dr. Harrison is fluent in English and Spanish. She enjoys musical theater, college football, international cuisine, and spending time outdoors with her husband and French Bulldog.
H. Irene Su, MD MSCE, Professor of Ob/Gyn & Reproductive Sciences at UC San Diego
Irene Su is a Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Science in the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of California, San Diego, where she currently serves as program director of the fellowship program in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. She obtained her undergraduate degrees in East Asian studies and biology at Stanford University and her medical degree at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She then completed residency training in obstetrics and gynecology, a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility, and a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Su directs the clinical fertility preservation program at UC San Diego. As a physician-scientist, she conducts research focused on estimating reproductive risks and intervening in the reproductive health of young people, particularly patients with cancer. Her clinical care of patients with reproductive health needs informs her group’s clinical, translational, and health policy research.
