Speaker Bios
Hala Borno, MD, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Trial Library
Dr. Borno is a physician-scientist, Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of California San Francisco, Founder, and Chief Executive Officer of Trial Library, an AI-enabled research platform with a mission to advance access to cancer precision medicine. Dr. Borno has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers and previously served as co-Medical Director of the Genitourinary Medical Oncology Clinic at the Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (HDFCCC) at UCSF. At DFC, Dr. Borno served on the executive leadership committee for the Prostate Cancer Program and was the Liaison to the Office of Community Engagement. She has also served as a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology Social Determinants of Health working group and GU committee for NRG oncology. She previously served as the Vice Chair of the Health Disparities Committee for Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology. Dr. Borno graduated with honors in biochemistry and received her medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she was a recipient of a merit scholarship (Medical Alumni Loyalty Fund Scholar). She completed her internal medicine residency and medical oncology fellowship training at UCSF. She served as chief oncology fellow at UCSF and was a National Institute on Aging T32 research fellow in the Division of Geriatrics. Dr. Borno's research has been featured in peer-reviewed journals such JAMA Oncology, Cancer, and Nature. Her work has been covered by national news outlets such as NPR, Washington Post, CBS News, Bloomberg News, and STAT News.
Angela Jimenez, MD, MPS, Physician Leader at Leon Precision Capital
Dr. Jimenez leverages her clinical expertise and financial acumen to drive innovation in healthcare. As an investor, physician, entrepreneur, and researcher, she has experience in clinical research and due diligence, chronic disease management, healthcare entrepreneurship, and life sciences investment. Combining her passion for medicine with a focus on business solutions, Dr. Jimenez is a leader in bridging the gap between the two worlds.
Mui Van Zandt, Vice President/Global Head of Data Strategy, Access, and Enablement at IQVIA
Mui leads global real-world data/real-world evidence innovation strategy. She brings over 14 years of experience across real-world, payer-provider, and commercial segments. Her expertise includes extensive knowledge of real-world data (RWD) globally, an understanding of different EMR systems, RWD standardization, ontology harmonization, and the use of RWD for retrospective/prospective studies. Mrs. Van Zandt is also a key member of the Observational Health Data Sciences and Informatics (OHDSI) community, leading under the Asian Pacific chapter to provide an overall strategy for the adoption of the OMOP Common Data Model, and is also a core member of the global steering committee.
Michelle Yi, Board Member at Women In Data
Michelle Yi is a technology leader who specializes in AI and cloud computing. She has 20 years of experience in the technology industry, contributed to the original IBM Watson showcased on Jeopardy, and especially enjoys driving impact in healthcare and life sciences. Michelle is passionate about diversity and STEM education/careers for our minority communities and serves on the Women in Data board and as an avid volunteer for Girls Who Code.
Nichole Young-Lin, MD, MBA, Women's Health Clinical Lead at Google
Dr. Nichole Young-Lin is a practicing board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist and the Women’s Health Clinical Lead at Google. Her work includes product development (Fitbit), AI research projects (including generative AI), and supporting women's health efforts across Google's platforms. Her background is in global health, having co-founded an international maternal health nonprofit that works to empower providers in low-resource areas and worked as a technical advisor for digital health projects at the World Health Organization. Dr. Young-Lin received her medical degree (MD) from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and her master's in business administration (MBA) from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business. She completed her residency training at Stanford University, where she continues to serve as adjunct faculty
