Speaker Bios
Julie Cramer, PhD, MS, Director of Clinical and Regulatory Affairs at Clinical Research Strategies
Dr. Cramer is the Director of Clinical and Regulatory Affairs at Clinical Research Strategies, an executive consulting firm and CRO in the Pittsburgh region. There, Julie leads clinical study programs, provides strategic regulatory pathway guidance to clients, and supports the medical writing team for medical devices and drugs in numerous therapeutic areas. Dr. Cramer earned her PhD in pathology from the University of Pittsburgh, with a focus on intestinal stem cells and their link to intestinal cancer. She then joined a local in vitro diagnostics startup company, where she embraced the challenge of managing a cross-disciplinary team and navigating the often-turbulent entrepreneurial waters. Subsequently, Dr. Cramer supported commercial translation efforts at the University of Pittsburgh’s Innovation Institute, acting as liaison to the University’s close clinical partner, UPMC. There, she managed diverse programs, including digital health and immunotherapy, to enable nascent technologies to mature into valuable intellectual property ready for licensing. Dr. Cramer is passionate about supporting companies through the entire life cycle of commercialization, including clinical study development and maintenance, regulatory submission strategy, and partnering. Dr. Cramer has been an active member of Women In Bio since 2013, serving as a mentor for the MAPS program and as chair of the Pittsburgh Chapter in 2018.
Tamara Kilgore, Senior Program Manager at Women In Bio
Tamara is the Senior Program Manager of Executive Women In Bio (EWIB) and Young Women In Bio (YWIB). In her role, Tamara is responsible for coordinating national programming and administration of the EWIB and YWIB programs. She works together with staff and volunteers to ensure that WIB’s mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning, and community outreach. Tamara has more than 15 years of experience in event planning, marketing communications, and fundraising.
Parul Nisha, PhD, Senior Director of Clinical Development at Cook MyoSite
Dr. Nisha is with the executive leadership of Cook MyoSite, the current Chapter Chair for the WIB-Pittsburgh Chapter, and Co-Chair for the EWIB Committee. She has close to two and a half decades of Life Sciences Research experience spanning both industry and academia. Her research journey has taken her from Cancer Epigenetics and Immunology bench research to clinical and regulatory affairs of Pharma and Medtech product development- supporting her passion and enthusiasm for research and innovation in healthcare. Dr. Nisha received her PhD from CMU and did post-doctoral research at NIH and Children's Hospital, UPMC. She also worked for Philips Respironics and advised several biotech start-ups while helping build the consulting business at a Pittsburgh-based start-up, Clinical Research Strategies. She is very involved in the Pittsburgh life sciences ecosystem and promotes STEM careers and education to life sciences graduates as well as middle and high school students. Purposeful giving has always been a way of life for Dr. Nisha, as shown by her leadership in organizing events and panels, mentoring, volunteering, and judging pitch competitions and science fairs, among others. Having benefitted personally from the WIB-Pittsburgh programming and network, Dr. Nisha is a huge proponent of Women In Bio and would like to see it grow so more people can benefit from it. Parul is very invested in Pittsburgh and its growth is an Indian classical music enthusiast and lives in Wexford with her husband and two boys.
