Speaker Bios
Glennis Mehra, PhD, Executive Director at Biolabs New York
Dr. Mehra is the Executive Director of BioLabs@NYULangone. She is an accomplished serial entrepreneur, business consultant, and angel investor with proven success in a variety of geographies and industries. Her experience spans teaching, biotechnology, technology transfer, international business operations, research and development, functional genomics, disease interception algorithm development, and patient insights. Throughout her career, she has gravitated toward emerging technologies and businesses. As one of the early adopters of functional genomic tools during doctoral work at Columbia University, she performed one of the first high-content gene expression profiles and analysis of damaged and regenerating epithelium. After earning her PhD in neurobiology and behavior from Columbia University, she joined the university's technology ventures group, where she created IP strategies and valuation systems and helped commercialize technologies from the biology and chemistry departments. From there, she co-founded and ran two successful startups in India before partnering with SPRIM Strategy and Innovation Consulting to provide a startup perspective to multinational/Fortune 500 companies.
Maria Luisa Pineda, PhD, CEO and Co-Founder of Envisagenics
Dr. Pineda embarked on her career in STEM as a high school Intel International Science Fair winner in Miami after immigrating from Colombia in 2001. She received her doctorate from Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory School of Biological Sciences as an Arnold and Mabel Beckman graduate student and a William Randolph Hearst Foundation scholar. After graduating, she acquired investment experience in technology and life-sciences startup companies at Canrock Ventures and Golden Seeds. Under her leadership, Envisagenics has received several SBIR grants from the National Institutes of Health and executed multiple research collaboration partnerships with biopharma companies. She is a founder member and the Secretary of the Alliance of Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare (AAIH), a non-profit advocacy and educational organization dedicated to promoting the development and implementation of AI in healthcare. She is also on the Board of Life Science Cares, a non-profit that leverages the power of the life science industry to solve poverty.
Jessily Ramirez-Mendoza, EPHM, IMPH, Principal and Founder of CureAI Insights
Building on her 17-year trajectory as a resilient healthcare manager, researcher, implementer, and knowledge broker, Jessily positions sociotechnical teams in the Americas and Europe to generate value for patients, health systems, and society. Jessily is the Principal and Founder of CureAI Insights, a boutique advisory practice specializing in human-centered design and implementing artificial intelligence offerings to improve human health. She partners with organizations, innovators, and entrepreneurs to solve complex challenges, develop and apply agile solutions and tools, and transfer emergent technologies from research to the bedside. She builds trust and safety to improve health outcomes while shaping the future of work to elevate the human experience. As part of her practice, she champions nurse leadership, patient voice, and youth empowerment for participatory design in digital health and health AI. Jessily holds an International Master of Public Health, specializing in Advanced Biostatistics and Epidemiology, a Master in Public Health and Health Management, and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management. She is fluent in English, Spanish and French.
Logan Troppito, Senior Manager of Life Sciences Management Consulting at Accenture
Logan is a Lead in Accenture's Life Sciences Supply Chain Management Consulting Practice, specializing in pharmaceutical & medical device supply chain. Over the past 12 years, she has worked with the Top 10 Pharmaceutical companies on drug launch go-to-market strategies & pharmaceutical/medical device logistics compliance for global anti-counterfeiting & anti-theft regulations. Through deep expertise in mobility, automation & application of future technology in distribution spaces, Logan works to optimize pharmaceutical plant and warehouse operations. Logan also works with research-oriented pharmaceuticals to help them transition to commercial operations and scale their organizations as they move their first products-in-pipeline to market, including COVID-19. An avid supporter of women+ in STEM, Logan mentors women & LGBTQIA individuals in business & STEM disciplines.
