Through her work at Araneae, she helps organizations learn what stands in the way of project success and become empowered with the knowledge required to make informed decisions and regain control. Lucia has a unique penchant for investigation, pattern recognition, and making connections that others don't see to unravel the most difficult and complex challenges. She uses her forensic investigative talents to uncover hidden obstacles and identify the real stakeholders to paint a full picture of the situation and build consensus around a solution. Marilyn Porras-Gomez, PhD, Senior Research Specialist at Dow Chemical
Marilyn is a materials scientist who is passionate about science, people, and the planet. During her doctoral studies, she explored how biological lipoprotein membranes respond to various stressors, discovering that the structure-property relationships of pulmonary membranes are directly linked to the development of pneumonia. At Dow Chemical, she collaborates on fundamental research to design sustainable materials and develop methods to degrade persistent ones. Mentorship has played a pivotal role in her career. Grateful for the guidance she has received, she finds great fulfillment in mentoring others and sharing her experiences.
Yadira Salamander, Sr. Director, Bulk Value Stream Lead at CSL Behring, Moderator
Yadira has more than 24 years of experience working at various pharmaceutical companies manufacturing medicines for human and animal health. She has served roles in manufacturing, engineering, validation, operations, MS&T, and quality functions. Yadira began her career at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in Carolina, Puerto Rico, where she spent three years before moving to the mainland. Since then, she has served roles of increasing responsibility and garnered technical leadership experience at Eli Lilly as the Validation Lead for the Bulk and Aseptic areas at a large biotech manufacturing site in Augusta, Ga. In 2019, Yadira seized the opportunity to join a start-up pharma company as the Director of Engineering before joining CSL’s Process Engineering Team at the Holly Springs, NC location. Yadira currently serves as the Sr. Director, Bulk Value Stream Lead at the CSL Behring Kankakee site. Yadira was born and raised in Humacao, Puerto Rico, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez campus. She is passionate about Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and has led and promoted multiple initiatives throughout her career. She is the National Speakers Bureau Chair for Women In Bio, a Board member of the ISPE Great Lakes Chapter. She has participated as a speaker in multiple panels for non-profit organizations such as SWE, SHPE, and other local organizations.
