Kimberly Barry, Senior Vice President, Life Science Practice at Colliers, Moderator
Kimberly Barry is an established professional in the biotech industry with over 18 years of expertise, currently playing a pivotal role as part of the Colliers’ Life Science Practice. As a trusted advisor to local Life Science companies, her focus lies in ensuring a seamless real estate transaction for her clients. From facilitating pre-LOI roundtable discussions on space programming, vendor procurement, and site selection to overseeing construction and relocation, her goal is to guide clients to the successful occupancy of their new Life Science spaces. Her career began as a research scientist, leading Analytical Development and Quality Control teams, and evolved into roles spanning CMC Project Management to Lab and Facility Management. Notable achievements include significant scientific contributions to an FDA-approved drug for Parkinson’s Disease and successfully overseeing multiple construction projects during a global pandemic. Kim is a proud Bostonian, holding a BS in biology from Emmanuel College, and currently residing in North Reading with her husband and 6-year-old son.
Kim Dougherty, Sr. Director of Operations for Atalanta Therapeutics
Kim has over 15 years of Biotech and Pharmaceutical operations experience. She started her career as a service engineer and currently works as Sr. Director of Operations for Atalanta Therapeutics. Throughout Kim’s profession, she has had success implementing global asset utilization systems and work order ticketing systems. She has managed instrumentation strategies and was responsible for multiple projects focusing on lab design, build-out, optimization, and relocations. Kim loves solving problems and is extremely passionate about helping others by sharing her experiences (good and bad) to reduce downtime and increase productivity, keeping the scientists focused on the science.
Courtney Ho, Site Head at Blavatnik Harvard Life Lab
Courtney Ho serves as the Site Head at the prestigious Blavatnik Harvard Life Lab, a cutting-edge shared laboratory space dedicated to fostering innovation among therapeutics companies affiliated with Harvard Medical School. In her role, Courtney spearheads a dynamic team responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring that ventures have the essential resources for success, and meticulously managing the application and selection process. A distinguished professional with a strong academic background, Courtney graduated with a bachelor’s degree in molecular and cellular biology from the University of Connecticut. Committed to continuous learning and professional growth, she recently earned her Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Boston University’s esteemed Professional Evening program, specializing in Health Sector Management. Having progressed from Lab Operations Associate to Implementation Manager at Venture Forward Partners, her time has been dedicated to streamlining processes and enhancing operational efficiency. Becca is committed to fostering innovation and driving process improvement. She is enthusiastic about contributing valuable insights to lab operations, aiming to offer a unique blend of expertise that draws from her varied background.
Tara Tatu, Laboratory Operations Manager at The Engine Accelerator
Tara Tatu serves as the adept Laboratory Operations Manager at The Engine Accelerator, spearheading the seamless functioning of a dynamic laboratory ecosystem accommodating more than 50 innovative start-up companies. In her role, she orchestrates the day-to-day intricacies of lab facilities, ensuring a harmonious environment for groundbreaking research initiatives. Tara is committed to upholding the highest standards of compliance with local, state, and federal lab regulations while working 1:1 with teams to meet required standards. Prior to her impactful role at The Engine, Tara played a pivotal role in a Boston-based topical therapeutic company, where she supported general laboratory operations and successfully navigated complex facility relocations. Her wealth of experience in laboratory management positions her as a proficient leader, adept at optimizing operational efficiency and fostering an environment conducive to pioneering scientific advancements.
