The WIB-San Francisco Bay Area Mentorship, Advisors, Peers, and Sponsorship (MAPS) group mentoring program is for members only. Participants cover a range of careers and levels of experience. The MAPS program aims to cultivate mentoring relationships, create supportive networks, and offer opportunities to develop and improve professional leadership skills so that members can reach their fullest professional potential.

Our current programs include:
1:1 Mentoring
A mentor can be a supervisor, a friend, a trainer, a teacher, an adviser, a counselor, a coach, and more. Mentor-mentee relationships can help in many ways, including career transitions, goal setting, and dealing with workplace difficulties. The 1:1 Mentoring Program pairs Mentors and Mentees based on areas of shared interest. The pair can then meet and talk in person at mutually convenient times.
This program is for WIB members at any stage in their development, from students to senior executives, looking for advice on career development, transitioning to an alternative career, work/family balance, promoting women at work, managing a team, and more. We highly encourage those who sign up as mentees to give back and consider being mentors for the program as well.

Peer Groups
Peer Groups are local informal meetings of six to ten women who are interested in discussing topics of common professional interest and provide consistent support, advice, and encouragement to each other. Peer Groups are typically a mix of seniority, roles, and types of life science companies. Meetings are self-directed, with the group deciding when, where, and how often to meet. Some groups may choose to meet over breakfast or lunch, and others may meet in the evenings or for dinner or wine tastings. Ultimately, every MAPS Group will develop its own character that reflects its members’ personalities, interests, goals, and schedules.
