The WIB-RTP Mentorship, Advisors, Peers, and Sponsorship (MAPS) group mentoring program is for members only. Participants cover a range of careers and levels of experience. The MAPS program aims to cultivate mentoring relationships, create supportive networks, and offer opportunities to develop and improve professional leadership skills so that members can reach their fullest professional potential.
Stay tuned to our chapter newsletters and webpage for information on the next enrollment periods, and check our LinkedIn page for updates. For more information, contact rtpmaps@womeninbio.org.
Our current programs include:
Transition MAPS
Transition MAPS is for academic researchers who want to enter the pharmaceutical/biotech industry and for those who want to move from bench research to clinical development or medical affairs. Participants need to commit to attending one-hour monthly meetings from May to September. All sessions will be conducted virtually so you can attend from anywhere. Enrollment for the program is in March.
Peer Groups
Peer Groups are local informal meetings of six to ten women who are interested in discussing topics of common professional interest and provide consistent support, advice, and encouragement to each other. Peer Groups are typically a mix of seniority, roles, and types of life science companies. Meetings are self-directed, with the group deciding when, where, and how often to meet. Some groups may choose to meet over breakfast or lunch, and others may meet in the evenings or for dinner or wine tastings. Ultimately, every MAPS Group will develop its own character that reflects its members’ personalities, interests, goals, and schedules. If you are interested in joining a Peer Group program, contact rtpmaps@womeninbio.org.

MAPS-RTP South is a group for WIB members near the Cary/Apex/Holly Springs area.
